Mrs Pethile Dzingai

Senior lecturer

Pethile Dzingai (Nee Sibanda) is currently a Senior lecturer in the Department of Fibre and Polymer Materials Engineering. Before she joined the department, she worked as a clothing line production manager and as a trainee towel manufacturing production manager at Archer Clothing Manufacturers and Merlin towel manufacturers respectively. She is currently enrolled as a full-time PhD student at the University of Pretoria in South Africa in the Department of Chemical Engineering (Institute of Applied Materials). Mrs Dzingai has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and is also a reviewer for the Zimbabwe Journal of Science and Technology. Her research interests lie at the interface of Fibre Engineering and Biopolymer Materials Engineering. Her research work in leather manufacturing is based on the development of more efficient and eco-friendly ways of producing leather. Pethile Dzingai is the current Academia representative for Zimbabwe, at the COMESA ALLPI since 2015 and has also participated in their 2021 curriculum review. She has also part of the Textiles, Clothing, and Leather, Technical Committees at the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) since 2014.

Research Interests: Microencapsulation, Leather Chemistry & Technology,Leather waste value recovery, Biomedical materials, Biopolymers, Fiber Science,Ceramic materials,Nanomaterials, Incubation of Science Parks,Cloth Production and line management

 

Qualifications: PhD (University of Pretoria, South Africa)- Current study, MEng (Donghua University, China ), BSc Honours (NUST, Zimbabwe), Postgrad Diploma in Higher Education (NUST, Zimbabwe).
