The Faculty of Agricultural Science and Technology (AST) trains aspiring agricultural information technology and agricultural genetics and cell technology scientists; agricultural engineers; agribusiness, economics and management and sustainable food production practitioners; and equips graduates with lifelong skills for successful careers and entrepreneurship. The faculty aims to provide quality teaching in a conducive learning environment using modern technologies and equipment to achieve excellence leading to the attainment of high academic standards. The faculty programmes are based on education heritage 5.0. that cultivates development of critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills to boost industrialisation and entrepreneurship. AST will equip its learners with scientific and research skills as well as practical knowledge to enable them to manage their own enterprises. The faculty seeks to make significant contributions towards transforming the Zimbabwean agricultural sector through human capital development of highly skilled and competent professionals to lead the implementation of national agricultural programmes. In addition, the faculty will take a leading role in the development of agro industrial parks around the NUST farm.
The faculty comprises five departments namely: Agricultural Information Technology; Agricultural Genetics and Cell Technology; Agricultural Engineering; Agribusiness, Economics and Management; and Sustainable Food Production.
