Mr Clifford M Mhlope is Acting Chairman for the Department of Agribusiness, Economics and Management. He joined NUST in August 1994 as a Lecturer in the Department of Banking, had a 9-year break working in an agricultural lending institution and rejoined in 2009. He holds a BSc (Econ) and MSc (Econ) qualifications from the University of Zimbabwe, as well as a Certificate in Project Appraisal awarded through the UNDP in association with the Government of Zimbabwe. Working experience includes the National Treasury as well as middle management positions in state owned enterprises agribusiness institutions. He retains an interest in agribusiness and development lending as a member of the Board of Trustees of Zimbabwe’s only Microfinance Wholesale Fund.

Research interests:

Mr Mhlophe’s area of special interest is in the practice of banking, especially cost-efficient lending systems for smallholder farmers and strategy creation and implementation.
