DEAN: FACULTY OF INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY (1 POST)
The Faculty consists of the following Departments:- Chemical Engineering, Civil and Water Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, and Fibre and Polymer Materials Engineering.
The post of Dean is a full-time high level position to be held for a period of four years in the first instance. The Dean reports to the Vice-Chancellor and is a member of the Senior Administrative team of the University. The Dean is the Chief Academic, Administrative and Financial Officer for the Faculty, and is responsible for research and academic leadership; administration and management; community outreach; income generation and financial management of the Faculty. A proven track record of achievement in the above areas is desirable.
The ideal candidate should possess academic and/or professional qualifications from an approved institution, preferably to the level of a Doctorate Degree in one of the disciplines offered by the Faculty and be at least at Senior Lecturer Grade (or have credentials that would qualify him/her for appointment at that level). Additionally, the candidate should have the following attributes: a proven track record of successful academic and administrative leadership skills; demonstrated ability to work in a team; proven commitment to academic excellence and collaboration across disciplines; ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with students, academic staff, administrators and external constituencies; demonstrated ability to forge partnerships and garner support from campus, business and community constituencies, leading to industrial attachment and employment opportunities for students and generating external funding for research and teaching.
1. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)
Department of Journalism and Media Studies – Faculty of Communication and Information Science
Applicants must have a PhD or Masters Degree in Strategic Communication and/ or Public Relations, Broadcast and/or Film Studies, or Communication for Development and/ or Innovation. Proven research track record in any one of the areas identified above and past professional or teaching experience are an added advantage.
2. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)
Department of Fibre and Polymer Materials Engineering – Faculty of Industrial Technology
Applicants should possess a Bachelor of Engineering Honours Degree in Textile Technology/Fibre and Polymer Materials Engineering with a 2.1 Degree class or better. Further, a Master’s in Textile Engineering/Fibre and Polymer Materials Engineering and a Certificate in Mill Management are required. The ideal candidate should have at least 2 (two) years industrial work experience. In addition, evidence of publications in refereed journals and conference papers in refereed proceedings is essential.
The successful applicant should be able to teach the following:- Composite Materials, Dyeing and Wet Processing, Fibre and Yarn Techniques as well as address the 3D materials concepts in all materials courses. The applicant will also be expected to supervise related students’ projects.
3. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (3 POSTS)
Department of Accounting – Faculty of Commerce
Applicants must have the following qualifications:-
•PhD in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or business related studies.
•Masters in Accounting and Finance.
•A good Honours degree in Accounting passed with at least 2.1
•A professional qualification such as CA, CPA and ACCA will be an added advantage.
•Experience in working in the industry.
•Be able to teach at least two of the following courses:-
Advanced Financial Accounting
4. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)
Department of Architecture – Faculty of The Built Environment
Applicants must have at least a post-graduate Bachelor of Architecture Degree from a recognised University or a Master’s Degree in Architecture. Registration with the Architects Council of Zimbabwe or other Architectural Professional Bodies in other countries will be an added advantage. They should be competent to teach a wide range of courses covering the basic elements of Architecture such as Design Studio, Building Construction and Materials, History and Theory of Architecture, Structural Design, Environmental Services and Sustainable Design, Computer Aided Design and Building Information Modelling (BIM), Management and Practice.
Evidence of scholarly and professional contribution is required and should include a portfolio of major design works.
5. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)
Department of Environmental Science and Health – Faculty of Applied Sciences
Applicants must be holders of a Masters Degree in Public Health, preferably in the field of Health Systems and Policies Management. PhD holders in the field of Public Health or candidates working towards attaining a PhD would have an added advantage. Applicants must also be holders of an undergraduate Honours Degree in Environmental Science and Health or equivalent with a strong inclination/leaning towards health and should be able to teach courses related to: Environmental Science and Health Policies, Health Information Systems, Social and Behaviour Change Communication in Health. Applicants must also have Teaching and Research Supervision experience in a Higher Learning Institution and be able to carry out other co-ordination duties as assigned by the Department.
6. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (2 POSTS)
Department of Applied Chemistry – Faculty of Applied Sciences
Applicants must be in possession of a suitable postgraduate Degree, preferably a PhD, be able to teach advanced courses in Transport Phenomena, Unit Operations, Reactor Technology and Plant Design, including Computer Aided Design, and also supervise Final Year Projects and Industrial Attachment. Applicants with Chemical Engineering background will have an added advantage.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop research within his/her area of specialisation. In addition, applicants will be expected to develop, update and review courses at undergraduate and possibly postgraduate level in order to keep up with changes in technology.
Applicants must hold a Masters degree, but preferably a PhD in Physical Chemistry and be experienced in teaching Chemistry at tertiary level. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Physical Chemistry at undergraduate honours level and will also be expected to develop a research and publication record within his/her area of specialisation. In addition, applicants will be expected to develop, update and review Physical Chemistry courses in order to keep up with changes in technology and to supervise Final-year Projects and Industrial Attachment.
7. RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (1 POST)
Department of Forest Resources and Wildlife Management – Faculty of Applied Sciences
Applicants must have a minimum of an MSc or MPhil Degree in GIS and/or Remote Sensing or related field plus a minimum of three (3) years working experience in the application of Geospatial Technology and Earth Observation in renewable natural resources management and must have researched and published in this field.
The successful candidate will be required to carry out research and facilitate research development within the Department as well as in other NUST departments and the community.
ALUMNl OFFICER: Department of Communication and Marketing
Applicants must hold a Degree in Marketing, Communication or any related discipline with at least two (2) years’ experience working in marketing communications and organisation of events. Candidates need to be highly computer literate and have excellent writing, communication and presentation skills. Experience in fundraising will be an added advantage, while membership of the NUST Alumni Association membership is a basic requirement.
The duties and responsibilities of the incumbent will be to compile and maintain the NUST Alumni database; organise Alumni events and programmes designed to keep the alumni engaged with, and, connected to their alma mater; and to co-ordinate Alumni Fundraising activities. S/he will be involved in alumni communications via the website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, e-newsletters and the regular Alumni Magazine, among others.
The appointee must be social media smart as he/she needs to be adept with developments in the social media and technological trends.
This is basically a results-oriented marketing job where tangible results are required.
