NOTIFICATION OF STUDENT UNION ELECTIONS: 2017/2018 ACADEMIC YEAR

The Student Union Elections for the President and Vice-President of the Student Representative Council are scheduled for Thursday, 26 October, 2017, in the event that more nominations than vacancies are received.

The Student Union Elections for thirteen (13) Student Representative Council Members are also scheduled for Thursday, 26 October, 2017, in the event that more nominations than vacancies are received.

The Electoral Regulations and Nomination Forms are being circulated at the same time as this notice. They will be available from the Office of the Dean of Students, the Admissions and Student Records Office, Offices of the Faculty Administrators and the Library.

The members of the Student Union should note that:

1. A valid Student Identity Card will be required to obtain a Ballot Paper.

2. Polling Stations will be set up in the Faculty of Commerce outside the Delta Lecture Theatre.

3. All Ballot Papers will each have two different ink stamps of the Electoral Officer. A Ballot Paper without these stamps will be declared null and void.


ELECTIONS FOR THE PRESIDENT, VICE-PRESIDENT AND THIRTEEN MEMBERS FOR THE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL

THE TIMETABLE FOR THE ELECTIONS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:

WEDNESDAY, 11 OCTOBER, 2017: ANNOUNCEMENT OF ELECTIONS, PUBLICATION OF VOTERS’ ROLL AND CALL FOR NOMINATIONS (THE VOTERS’ ROLL IS THE STUDENTS WHO ARE REGISTERED WITH THE UNIVERSITY).

NOMINATION PAPERS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE DEAN OF STUDENTS, THE FACULTY ADMINISTRATORS’, LIBRARY AND ADMISSIONS AND STUDENT RECORDS OFFICES. NOMINATIONS ARE TO BE HANDED IN AT THE ADMISSIONS AND STUDENT RECORDS OFFICE.

ELECTIONS FOR PRESIDENT AND VICE-PRESIDENT

  • 1630 HOURS WEDNESDAY, 18 OCTOBER, 2017: CLOSE OF NOMINATIONS. THE NOMINATIONS SHOULD BE HANDED IN AT THE ADMISSIONS AND STUDENT RECORDS OFFICE.
  • 0830 HOURS THURSDAY, 19 OCTOBER, 2017: VERIFICATION OF NOMINATIONS (VENUE: NUST ADMINISTRATION BLOCK, 2ND FLOOR, COUNCIL CHAMBER, FROM 0830 HRS). ALL THOSE NOMINATED ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.
  • THURSDAY, 19 OCTOBER, 2017: PUBLICATION OF LISTS OF VALID CANDIDATES

CANDIDATES’ MANIFESTOS: THE OFFICE OF THE DEAN OF STUDENTS WILL ARRANGE AND PUBLICISE THE TIMES AND VENUES FOR CANDIDATES’ MANIFESTOS.

  • 8.00 AM – 5.00 PM THURSDAY, 26 OCTOBER, 2017 : POLLING FOR THE PRESIDENT AND VICE- PRESIDENT
  • 5.00 PM COUNTING OF VOTES AND ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS AT THE DELTA LECTURE THEATRE FOYER

  • 1630 HOURS WEDNESDAY, 18 OCTOBER, 2017: CLOSE OF NOMINATIONS. THE NOMINATIONS SHOULD BE HANDED IN AT THE ADMISSIONS AND STUDENT RECORDS OFFICE.
