Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration
Admission Requirements: To be admitted into this highly sought-after and competitive research-based doctoral programme, a candidate should be in possession of a Bachelors degree in a Commerce discipline such as Marketing, Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Banking, Economics, Insurance, etc., with an overall degree class of First or Upper Second Class. In addition, the candidate should have a postgraduate qualification at Masters level in any area of Commerce mentioned above from any recognized institution of higher learning, with an overall degree class of Distinction or Merit.
Length of programme: This degree programme by research usually takes a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 8 years to complete. The academic semesters are January-June and July-December.
Objective of the Programme: The objective of this doctoral programme is to produce leaders who are capable of steering countries, private and public-sector organizations productively and ethically. Graduates of this degree programme are expected to produce high quality novel knowledge through cutting edge research that contributes to African development.
Fees: Fees are $2000.00 per semester; Prospective students are encouraged to seek Scholarship Opportunities.
Doctoral study schools: Two Doctoral study schools are held twice per year – in March and July - each lasting a minimum of three days. The purpose of the Doctoral study schools is to take candidates through courses in Research Methodology, Academic writing, Data interpretation, analysis and presentation and Academic publishing.
Higher degrees meetings: Four higher degrees meetings are held quarterly throughout the year. During these meetings students may present their proposals and final theses for approval by the Faculty of Commerce Higher Degrees Committee.
Research Supervision: Students go through a rigorous supervision programme by some of the best academics in their fields of study. The supervision teams are a mixture of both local and internationally distinguished academics.
Thesis Examination and Award of Degree: Theses are examined by 3 examiners who are distinguished academics in the candidate’s area of study. A candidate is awarded the degree only after the thesis has been passed by all 3 examiners and after he/she has passed the oral defense (viva voce) examination.

f) Proof of funding, scholarship etc
