Biography

Dr. Nothando Tshuma serves as the Chairperson of Banking and Economic Sciences. She has been a member of the Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences since 2011. Notably, she holds the distinction of being a Turkiye Fellow for the Turkish Language program for Public Officials and Academics (2022), demonstrating a C1 proficiency in the Turkish language. Dr. Tshuma’s teaching portfolio includes Liquidity and Risk Management for the CCL diploma in Risk and Loss. Additionally, she actively contributes to the Banking Advisory board and various other boards. Her leadership extends beyond academia—she spearheaded The Economics Classroom project in 2019, which resulted in the establishment of entrepreneurial ventures by students. As Chairperson, Dr. Tshuma envisions a department that bridges theory and practice, nurturing the next generation of economists and banking professionals. Her guiding motto is ‘Together, we strive for resilient financial systems, sustainable growth, and equitable prosperity.’
