3. Biography

Everson Ndlovu is a distinguished facilitator, researcher, and disaster risk management expert based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Since 2013, he has been a dedicated lecturer in Disaster Management at the National University of Science and Technology (Institute of Development Sciences). His role includes supervising student research projects, setting and marking examinations, conducting research, and facilitating publications. Additionally, Everson offers short courses and capacity-building programs tailored for government departments, communities, and non-state actors in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and community development.

At the Master's level, Everson currently teaches two modules, namely, Disaster Education and Media Management and Disaster Risk Communication. His academic credentials include a Master of Science Degree in Disaster Management (2012) (University of Free State) and a Bachelor of Education Degree in Educational Administration, Planning, and Policy Studies (2003), University of Zimbabwe.

Everson's contributions to the field are well-recognized through his eight highly cited publications and numerous presentations at conferences and Parliamentary Portfolios. He is a prominent figure in professional circles, actively participating as a member of the South African Society for Disaster Reduction (SASDiR) and the Global Network of Civil Society Organizations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR). He is also involved in community development initiatives through the 3-Pronged Approaches collaboration between the University and the UN World Food Programme (UN-WFP). These initiatives focus on disaster preparedness, local government planning and budgeting, and land and ecosystems restoration.

Notably, in 2023, Everson developed a Sustainability Plan and Business Continuity Model for the SADC-SHOC and played a crucial role in the LIPS Zimbabwe Project, which targets the livestock value chains. His multifaceted contributions reflect a robust commitment to both his professional field and his community, demonstrating a holistic approach to disaster reduction and sustainable development.

9. Community Service Engagement

• 2018 to-date Sustainable Livelihood Programming (SLP) and Community Based Participatory Planning (CBPP) with over 15 Local Authorities (rural and Urban) in Zimbabwe (on-going project aimed and building community resilience and capacity building of local authorities).
