Dr. Nothando TshumaChairperson

Whether you are a student, Faculty, or curious visitor we extend a warm welcome. The Banking & Economic Sciences department was established at the inception of the National University of Science and Technology in 1991.

The Department offers a menu of programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, built on global and regional developments in Banking and Investment management as well as Economics. A close association with the Institute of Bankers of Zimbabwe in the formative years, as well as the internship programs by the University, infused a unique slant to teaching, with graduates, literally, hitting the ground running. The program has benefited immensely from partners in the form of the Industrial Liaison Committee, which provides an essential link with the world of employment growth and skills demand. The department serves as the driving force behind the Institute of Development Sciences, as the initial programs were incubated within the Banking and Economic Sciences Department. Employment opportunities have mainly been in branch operations, credit analysis, treasury and dealing operations as well as business.
