Current and Former Deans

Dr Peter Nkala
Dr Peter Nkala Fifth Dean (2016 - Present)
Dr Peter Nkala is the current Fifth Dean and Third Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences (July 2017 – date), former Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Business Development (February 2020-30 April 2021) and the inaugural Director of the Institute of Development Sciences. Dr Nkala is also the current interim Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Southern Africa Resilient Livelihoods Universities Network (SARLUN), a network of six Universities in SADC focusing on research and community projects aimed at improving livelihoods resilience in the region. Dr Nkala holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher and Tertiary Education (NUST), BSc (Hons) Economics (UZ), MSc Economics (UZ) and a PhD in Economics and Social Science (BOKU, Austria). Dr Nkala has worked for organizations such as the PTC, Intermediate Technology Development Group, ICRISAT and the Catholic University of Mozambique among others. Dr Nkala has examined MPhils and PhDs for Universities of the Free State (South Africa), Fort Hare (South Africa), Makerere (Uganda) and CUT (Zimbabwe) among others. Dr Nkala has more than 17 peer-reviewed publications in various and his research interests and publications are in Managerial Economics, Development Economics, International Trade as well as Development Theory.
Mr Milton Webb Ndlovu
Mr Milton Webb Ndlovu Fourth Dean (2008-2016)
Mr Milton Webb Ndlovu is the Fourth Dean and Second Executive Dean of the Faculty of Commerce (2008 – 2016). Mr Milton Webb Ndlovu joined NUST in 2002 as a Teaching Assistant, successfully enrolled and graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Banking and Financial Services in 2005, after which he was employed as a full-time lecturer in the Department of Banking. Mr M. W. Ndlovu teaches Banking Law and Practice, Commercial Law, Marketing of Financial Services and the Managerial Accounting and Financial Accounting in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, respectively. In July 2008, Mr M. W. Ndlovu became the Chairman of the Department of Banking and Acting Executive Dean of the Faculty of Commerce before becoming the substantive Executive Dean of the Faculty of Commerce in September 2008 to August 2016. Among his achievements was the establishment of the Institute of Development Studies (IDS-NUST), a unit that has significantly improved the research culture and number of publications in the Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences. Mr M. W. Ndlovu designed the overtime payment system for the “parallel” undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across the whole University. Mr M. W. Ndlovu’s areas of research interest include Finance, Insurance, Banking and Development Economics among others and has contributed significantly to Total Leadership Training of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Executive as part of University Community Engagement.
Dr Ruramayi Tadu
Dr Ruramayi TaduThird Dean (2002-2008)
Mr Ruramayi Tadu (now Dr Tadu) joined NUST as a staff development fellow in 1996 and rose through the ranks to become the Third Dean and First Executive Dean of the Faculty of Commerce (2002-2008). Dr. Ruramayi Tadu holds a Ph.D. in Business Management (UNISA, 2015-2018), MBA specializing in Financial Services (University of Nottingham (1996-1997), BCom (Honours) in Banking (National University of Science and Technology, 1991-1994) and a Diploma in EIA (Molde University-Norway, 2006). Dr Tadu also served as the Department of Banking Chairperson (1999 - 2002), NUST Lecturer in International Banking, Foreign Exchange Management and Risk Management (1998 to 2008) and was also a Corporate Finance Analyst for the Zimbabwe Development Bank (1995 - 1996). Dr. Tadu has 22 peer-reviewed articles in refereed journals on Corporate Governance, Educational Management and Leadership.
Mr Thomas Nkomo
Mr Thomas NkomoSecond Dean (1998 - 2001)
Mr Thomas Nkomo was one of the founding Lecturers in the Department of Insurance and Risk Management where he served a Lecturer for Company and Business Laws. He was appointed Chairman of the Department and eventually Second Dean of Commerce (1998-2001) and last before the University introduced Executive Deans of Faculties. Mr Thomas Nkomo holds a Bachelor of Law (BL) (Honours) (1986) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (1987) (UZ) and a Master of Law (LLM) specialising in Commercial and Corporate Laws (QMW) (University of London, 1993). Mr Nkomo was Senior State Counsel under the Zimbabwe Attorney General’s Office before joining NUST making him an experienced full time law Lecturer and Barrister who appeared and litigated in the Magistrates, High and Supreme Courts in Zimbabwe. He is an enrolled Legal Practitioner, Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Zimbabwe and a member of the Zimbabwe Law Society. His research interests are in Criminal, Company, Insurance and Labour law.
Mr E Razemba
Mr E RazembaFirst Dean (1991-1997)
The late Mr E Razemba was the inaugural Dean of the Faculty of Commerce in 1991 when the University opened with 270 students spread across three Faculties of Applied Sciences, Commerce and Industrial Technology. The Faculty of Commerce at the time comprised the Departments of Accounting, Banking, Finance, Insurance and Risk Management as well as Management. Mr Razemba was a holder of a BA (Hampton, VA) and a MA (California, Washington DC. HTC).
