Early this month, a new player in the broadcasting field, Nust.fm was introduced and for one of the pioneering presenters, Gloria Bhebhe, it could not have come at a better time. The National University of Science and Technology (Nust) Journalism and Media Studies student said radio found her. “So, growing up, I didn’t see myself as a radio presenter, even when I got into varsity. But I always had a huge liking for television broadcasts. Bonang Matheba (a South African media personality) triggered the love for radio as watching her execute the roles that deeply inspired me to be like her and even more,” Bhebhe said
Bhebhe vividly remembers the first time she went on air. “I remember hearing my voice for the first time on-air through those headphones. I sounded so different,” she said. Miss Gee at the Nust.fm radio station Also known as Miss Gee, Bhebhe is working closely with fellow radio presenter, Gugulethu Sibanda known as Gugu the Vibe Queen in presenting the campus radio station’s Breakfast Show from Monday to Wednesday
The pair complements a broadcasting team that comprises Lindah Mutsa, Monalisa Ntibane and Laurel Mura. On their Breakfast Show time slot, Bhebhe said various topical issues are discussed.
“The breakfast show is all about morning vibes. We’ll be getting people in on the social trends, news, sports headlines, weather and traffic updates as well as the latest trending music. “A few hot topics are also discussed as the show progresses and all this is to achieve the main goal of getting our listeners into a good mood for the day ahead,” she said.
Nust.fm which is accessible on the frequency, 101.1 FM joins a list of licensed campus radio stations in the country and these include LSU Campus Radio, MSU Campus Radio, GZU Campus Radio, UZ Campus Radio, Harare Polytechnic, and CUT FM.
