Mr. Leon Jabulani Hadebe

Mr. Leon Jabulani Hadebe is a seasoned Academic Administrator with over two decades of experience in higher education. He brings a unique blend of strategic leadership, academic expertise, and exceptional interpersonal skills to the University Community.
Personal Life
Mr. Hadebe is married to Dr. Lillie-Beth Hadebe and is a proud father of four children: Nobuhle, Mbongeni, Sithandweyinkosi, and Methembe.

The Office of the Deputy Registrar Academic is responsible for the following main functions and activities at the National University of Science and Technology:

Governance

  • Provide efficient administrative support to the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellors and Registrar in the management of the meetings of Senate and ad-hoc Committees of the National University of Science and Technology.
  • Ensures that an official record of actions and decisions of Senate and its statutory committees are maintained.
  • Assist the Registrar in the implementation of good governance practices in the institution.
  • Develop and Review of Academic Regulations.
  • Provide secretarial support to Senate members in respect of correspondence, e-mail and other administrative matters.
  • Ensure compliance with ZIMCHE accreditation standards and NUST academic regulations
  • Examinations and Assessments: Manage examination process, grading, and academic integrity
  • Academic Program Development: Contribute to development and review of academic programs, policies, and procedures
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: Foster partnerships with local and international universities and stakeholders
  • Leadership and Management: Supervise staff, provide guidance, and ensure effective teamwork
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze and report on academic data to inform decision-making

Supervise the Governance function of the Institution’s Governance structures, including the development of Regulations and the facilitation and recordkeeping of meetings and decisions, as well as the dissemination thereof.
