ADMISSION BY NORMAL ENTRY AND SPECIAL ENTRY INTO UNDERGRADUATE CONVENTIONAL, PARALLEL AND BLOCK-RELEASE DEGREE PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2020 ACADEMIC YEAR

 

 Applications are invited from candidates who meet the requirements for entry into Part I (First Year) of the Undergraduate Conventional Degree Programmes, Parallel Degree Programmes and Block-Release for the 2020 Academic Year.

 The following information applies to all applicants: 

• Applicants should have passed at least 5 subjects at ‘O’ Level at Grade C or better. These should include Mathematics and English Language. However, Mathematics is an added advantage  for the Midwifery programmes
• Only candidates who already have ‘A’ Levels will be considered.
• Proof of bot  ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level results should be attached. 
• A non-refundable application fee of ZWL$150, must accompany the Application Form.

           The closing date for late application forms is 09 September 2020. 

Candidates with a National Diploma or a Higher National Diploma (HEXCO) or other relevant Diplomas and 5 ‘O’ Level passes at Grade    ‘C’ or better including English Language and Mathematics will be considered under Special Entry.

FACULTY OF MEDICINE 

Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Midwifery (Special Entry) [Block]

At least 5 ‘O’ Levels including English  Language and a Science subject (Biology, Chemistry or Physics), a midwifery qualification (Registered General Nurse with a Diploma in Midwifery or a Registered Midwife with a Diploma Certificate), be registered with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe and have a current Practising Certificate with 2 years work experience post midwifery qualification.

 

FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

Bachelor of Design Education (Honours) Degree (BDesEd Hons) – (Block Release) 

The programme targets non-graduate school teachers and related personnel in the field of education who meet the requirements for admission by special entry into the above three-year programme. 

Entry requirements 

• Applicants must have 5 ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
• Applicants must be holders of a recognised Teaching Diploma or Certificate in any of the following subjects:
• Applied Art and Design
• Clothing, Textile and Fashion Design
• Design and Technology
• Possession of a relevant ‘A’ Level subject will be a clear advantage.

 

Bachelor of Science Education (Honours) Degree (BScEd Hons) (Block Release) 

The programme targets diploma holding non-graduate secondary school teachers and related personnel in the field of education who meet the requirements for admission by special entry into the above programme. Applicants must be employed as Science, Technology and Mathematics teachers in secondary schools, colleges or related organisations at the time of applying.  The three-year programme is offered on block release during school holidays. 

Entry requirements 

• Applicants must have at least 5 ‘O’ Level subject passes including English Language and Mathematics, and
• Applicants must be holders of a recognised secondary school teaching diploma in any of the following subjects:
• Accounting and Business Studies
• Mathematics
• Biology
• Chemistry
• Physics
• Computer Science
• Applicants with a Primary School teaching qualification must also have a pass at ‘A’ level in the intended subject of study. 

Bachelor of Technology Education (Honours) Degree (BTechEd Hons) – (Block Release) 

Applicants must be non-graduate school teachers, college lecturers, trainers, instructors and related personnel in schools, institutions, organisations and industry who meet the requirements for admission by special entry into the above three-year programme. 

Entry requirements 

• Applicants must have 5 ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
• Applicants must be holders of the National Diploma or recognised equivalent qualification in any of the following subjects:
• Civil and Construction Engineering
• Electrical and Electronic Engineering
• Industrial and Mechanical Engineering
• Technical Graphics
• Wood Science and Technology
• Applicants must have a Diploma or Certificate in technical or vocational education or its equivalent.
• Applicants who hold a Diploma in subjects listed in (ii) and have no Education qualification must be employed as teachers, lecturers, instructors or trainers in relevant institutions or organisations at the time of applying and for the duration of their studies.

N.B. Admission into the above programmes will be subject to adequate numbers of applicants qualifying to make a class.

 

Bachelor of Design Education Honours Degree (BDesEd Hons)  [Special Entry -Block] 

Applications are invited from qualified candidates wishing to enrol for the full-time four-year programme.

Subject Options 

            Applied Art and  Design, Clothing, Textile and Fashion Design, Design and Technology. 

Entry requirements 

• Two ‘A’ Level passes including the relevant subject of specialization or its equivalent.
• Five ‘O’ Level passes including English language and Mathematics.

Civil and construction engineering, Automotive and Mechanical, Technical Graphics, Wood Science and Technology, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering 

Entry requirements 

• Two ‘A’ Level passes including the relevant subject of specialization or its equivalent.
• Five ‘O’ Level passes including English language and Mathematics.

 

MASTERS IN EDUCATION PROGRAMMES 

Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology Education (PGDSTE) 

Applications will be drawn from graduate secondary school teachers in selected subject areas wishing to enrol for the 18-month block release programme for teachers and education personnel in Science, Technical or Commercial subjects taught in the Secondary School or College. 

Entry requirements 

1. At least 5 ‘O’ level passes including English Language and Mathematics
2. A relevant bachelors degree from a recognized university
3. Be currently teaching in schools, colleges or related institutions

 

Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education (PGDHE) 

Applications are invited from qualified candidates wishing to enrol for the One-Year Block Release Programme for Higher and Tertiary Education personnel in Science, Technical or Commercial subject teaching areas. 

Entry requirements 

1. A minimum of a relevant and approved first degree, and
2. Be currently working in Higher and Tertiary Education institutions or related organisations.

 

Master of Design Education (MDesEd) – (Block-Release) 

Applications are invited from qualified candidates wishing to enrol for the Two-Year Block Release Programme specialising in the following subject options: Applied Art and Design, Clothing, Textile and Fashion Design, Design and Technology

• A relevant and approved bachelors degree in technical education with a minimum grade of 2.2 or equivalent, or
• A relevant technical degree plus a certificate or diploma in science and technical education
