Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the following posts that have arisen in the University:

 

LIBRARY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER (1 POST)

University Library 

Applicants must have a Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Software Engineering or any other equivalent Information Technology Degree from a recognised University or Institution at Honours degree level and have at least five years post qualification experience.  A relevant post-graduate degree will be an added advantage. 

The Library Information Technology Manager will report directly to the Librarian and s/he will be responsible for the design, implementation and administration of Library Systems and digital projects. The successful applicant must be self-disciplined with the ability to pay meticulous attention to detail. Further, s/he must have good analytical as well as excellent problem-solving skills. Good team working skills are essential. 

The incumbent will be expected to work closely with the Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS) Department at the University.

 

ASSISTANT REGISTRAR/SENIOR ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (1 POST)

Registrar’s Department 

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Business Management, or related field and at least 5 years’ relevant post-qualification experience; OR have a Masters Degree in a relevant field and at least 2 years relevant post qualification experience. 

Applicants must display knowledge of administration and business concepts and have good organizational skills. The successful applicant must be able to plan and co-ordinate Faculty activities with minimum supervision. In addition, administrative experience in a higher education environment and exceptional knowledge of University systems of operation are essential. Computer literacy is a requirement. 

The ideal candidate may work in any Section of the University Administration, but the initial appointment will be in the Faculty of Commerce.

 

PROJECTS OFFICER (1 POST)

Department of Physical Planning, Works and Estates 

Applicants must hold a BSc (Hons) in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or Civil Engineering. A Masters Degree in the above areas will be an added advantage. Experience in a property development or construction environment is essential. 

The successful applicant is required to have an in-depth understanding of construction procedures, material and project management principles and be able to communicate effectively at all levels; compile and write technical reports and be self motivated and able to work with minimum supervision. The incumbent should have excellent organisational and time-management skills. Good team playing and leadership abilities are essential. Knowledge of spreadsheets, graphic and database software is advantageous. 

Reporting to the Director of Physical Planning, Works and Estates, the successful applicant will be responsible for: collaborating with engineers and architects to ensure that building briefs and designs reflect user requirements; assisting the Director on project monitoring through production of progress reports, budget  reports and general analysis; attending site meetings as well as critical issues needing clients’ attention; maintaining a database for all building projects (planned, on-going and completed); planning and supervising construction projects; ensuring adherence to all health and safety standards and reporting issues; coordinating the decanting of personnel and equipment from existing to new facilities; ensuring smooth building handover and putting in place essential maintenance security measures.

 

CHIEF MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST/SCIENTIST (1 POST)

Faculty of Medicine 

Applicants must hold a minimum qualification of a BSc Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or four year General Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology/Sciences with two years of Specialized Diploma in any of the Pathology subjects (Histology, Haematology, Microbiology and Biochemistry).  Relevant administrative experience and an MSc degree in any Pathology subject will be an added advantage. 

 

MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST/SENIOR MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST (1 POST)

Department of Anatomy and Physiology 

Applicants must possess a General Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology/Sciences or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent, and two years relevant experience.

 

NURSING SISTER (2 POSTS)

Division of Student Affairs 

Applicants must possess a Diploma in General Nursing and a current practising certificate with Nurses Council of Zimbabwe. A Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing, Certificate in Family Planning, Counselling, HIV and Aids Education, Forensic for Nurses Persons License or a BSc in Nursing and working experience with students at Tertiary Institution level will be an added advantage.  The incumbent must have a minimum of 3 (three) years post-qualification experience.

 

GROUNDS SUPERVISOR ( 1 POST) 

 DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL PLANNING, WORKS AND ESTATES 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

Applicants must have minimum qualifications of 5 ‘O’ level passes including English Language plus a Diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, Landscaping or a related field.   The ideal candidate must have at least (3) years experience in ground/landscape maintenance, major lawn care or horticultural activities as well as experience in supervising grounds maintenance staff, scheduling their work assignments, budgeting funds and operating ground keeping equipment.  Experience in landscaping and lawn maintenance is an advantage.

TECHNICIAN/SENIOR TECHNICIAN ( 1 POST)

FACULTY OF COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION SCIENCE: DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

Applicants must have a Higher National Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science and three (3) years post-qualification experience Or a Degree in Information Technology or Informatics or Computer Science or equivalent.  Experience in Networking and intimate knowledge of Microsoft Office Software applications is essential and CCNA or A+ Certification will be an added advantage. 

The successful candidate will report to the Chairperson of the Department of Library and Information Science in the Faculty of Communication and Information Science.  He/She will be responsible for assisting students and staff in the use of ICTs through hardware and software support.

TECHNICIAN/SENIOR TECHNICIAN ( 1 POST)

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING: DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

Applicants must have a Higher National Diploma in Electronic Engineering or a relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.  Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in the maintenance and repair of Instrumentation and Control equipment.  

DUTIES 

Duties and responsibilities of the incumbent will include the following: assisting in the Control and Instrumentation Engineering Laboratory; assisting the academic staff in the preparation and supervision of Control and Instrumentation Laboratory practicals; assisting the Department in the identification and procurement of laboratory equipment and consumables as well as maintenance work.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

Applicants must have a National Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent plus Digital Skills Licence or ICDL.  Possession of an HND or a degree in the relevant field and knowledge of Marketing will be an added advantage. 

DUTIES 

Duties and responsibilities of the incumbent will include the following:- providing technical support to users, assisting in the supervision of programs that make use of computers at the CCE, providing technical and teaching assistance to the CCE Affiliate Centres, assisting in the marketing of computer programs offered by the CCE.
