Students, faculty, and staff from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) took part in the national clean-up campaign on Friday, cleaning up the university campus and reinforcing their commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement.
The university’s clean-up campaign, which is now held monthly to coincide with the national version, saw volunteer students, staff and stakeholders working together to restore green spaces, collect litter, and beautify campus surroundings, promoting a cleaner environment. Participants emphasised the importance of Ubuntu/Hunhu, with staff member Mrs. M. Mudzingwa stating, "This is not just a national event to us, but also a huge indication of Ubuntu. May the NUST community continue working together to keep our environment clean; after all, cleanliness is next to Godliness."
NUST’s involvement highlights its ongoing dedication to environmental sustainability, encouraging students to take ownership of their environment while fostering a sense of unity. The initiative also sparked conversations on long-term eco-friendly practices and personal responsibility in maintaining cleanliness.
With a strong turnout and collective enthusiasm, NUST’s hosting and participation in the campaign serves as a reminder that small actions can drive meaningful change in environmental conservation.
