NUST lecturer receives NRF award

NUST lecturer, Dr Forget Chaterera, from the Department of Records and Archives Management (RAM) has been   awarded the 2019 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Research after she was given a Y2 rating by the National Research Foundation of South Africa (NRF).

A Y2 rating is a   recognition by peers in research to a young academic having the potential to establish him/herself as a researcher demonstrated by recent research output.

The NRF rating is a globally competitive science system that is used to measure   the quality of researchers in the world, based on research outputs and the impact of the research by international research viewers thereof.

Dr Chaterera said being rated as a researcher by the NRF, has given her   access to resources and support that she will need to pursue scientific studies and investigations.

The award has made me appreciate more the value of research in transforming societies. The award comes with opportunities to partner with the local, regional and international community of researchers. This sustainably enables me to advance scholarship and continue to pursue academic excellence,” she said.

As a researcher, she  has a comprehensive list of research papers that she has co-written with other authors around research topics such as access to public information and documentation of cultural heritage property to mention a few. More of Chaterera’s articles include:
