The National University of Science and Technology is once again participating in the 60th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) which is running under the theme: Propagating industrial growth through trade and investment.
ZITF is the biggest and prominent exhibition show in the country which attracts international and local audiences and provides a platform for business synergies and networking. The show provides NUST with a platform to market the degree programmes offered as well as exhibiting the research and innovation by staff and students. It also serves as a platform to attract local and international investors in the university’s academic and infrastructural development.
This years’ show is expected to be a historic one as ZITF celebrates its Golden Jubilee while Bulawayo also celebrates 125 years as a city. The show will run from the 23rd of April to Saturday the 27th April 2019.
Over 800 local and foreign exhibitors are at this year’s show participating drawn from various countries which include United States of America, Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, South Africa, Japan, United Arabs Emirates. While different countries and organisations visit stands for various reasons, NUST hopes to secure investors, create and manage relationships with organizations and demonstrate that the institution can contribute to the economic growth of the nation.
According to Communication and Marketing officer Mrs Lindiwe Nyoni, “NUST wants to show the country that we can also participate in the nation’s industrial growth through research and innovation.”
Those who visit the stand can expect to see student research projects such as the award-winning Infectious disease-detecting Application, the Polymer-Testing Machine and the Methane Gas Production project under Industrial Technology.
The NUST Alumni Association will also be at the ZITF and is inviting all former NUST students to visit and reconnect with their alma mater.
