Please be advised that due to the Population and Housing Census that will be from 21 to 30 April 2022, the 2022/2023 Academic year Application for Enrolment deadline has been extended to 6 May 2022. The late application deadline has also been extended to 13 May 2022. This Notice supersedes the dates written on the Adverts. Application Fee

Zimbabwean Nationals

An application fee of US$10 or the ZWL interbank rate equivalent of the day must be paid during the online application process.

 

International Applicants

The application fee for International Applicants is US$20.

The closing date for applications is 6 May 2022.

 

Late application

The deadline for late applications is 13 May 2022. 

Zimbabwean Nationals' late application fee is US$15.

International Applicants' late application fee is US$30

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applied Science

 

 

Master of Science Degree in Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least Upper Second (2.1) in Biological Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry or Biotechnology.

Shortlisted candidates may be interviewed before admission. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

Master of Science Degree in Analytical Chemistry

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

Master of Science Degree in Applied Mathematical Modelling

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least Upper Second (2.1) in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Statistics, Computer Science or Operations Research. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

Master of Science Degree in Big Data Science  (Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Computing (Computer Engineering, Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering), Electronic Engineering, Statistics, Business Analytics or Operations Research.

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

Master of Science Degree in Eco-tourism and Biodiversity Conservation

(Bulawayo or Harare Cohort)

 

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Forest Resources and Wildlife Management, Animal Science, Natural Resources Management or any relevant Science Degree. Relevant work experience and professional qualifications in Eco-tourism, Strategic Marketing and Business Management will be an added advantage. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

Master of Science Degree in

Environmental Health

 

Applicants should be in possession of:

A Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in

Environmental Science and Health, Bachelor of

Environmental Science Honours Degree in Public Health

or any other related field with at least a Lower Second

Degree classification (2.2). The duration of the programme will be 24 months (2 years).

Master of Science Degree in Applied Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing

Normal entry:  Applicants should have a BSc Honours Degree with an Upper Second Class (2.1) in Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing, Life Sciences and related Geospatial Disciplines with a significant Geographical Information Systems content. 

Special entry:  Candidates with a lower second class (2.2) BSc Honours Degree and at least three years of relevant work experience. 

Please attach copies of Birth Certificates, National Identity Card, Relevant academic or Professional certificates and transcripts as well as a detailed Curriculum Vitae, which should include the names and addresses of two referees.

Master of Science Degree in Geophysics

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least Upper Second (2.1) in Applied Physics or Geology. 

Applicants with a BSc Honours Degree in Geology with a minimum classification of Upper Second (2.1) may be considered for admission if they have a good mathematics background.   

Any other equivalent qualifications obtained from recognised institutions in Zimbabwe or elsewhere may be considered for admission. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

Master of Science Degree in Lasers and Applied Optics

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Applied Physics or Physics. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualificationexperience.

 

Applicants who do not have an Honours Degree in Physics or Applied Physics will be considered if they have passed the following courses or their equivalent: Thermal Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Atomic Physics and  Nuclear Physics will be considered.

Master of Science Degree in Medical Physics

              

 

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Applied Physics or Biophysics. Preference shall be given to those already working in the Health Delivery Sector. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

Master of Science Degree  in Radiography

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Radiography. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above field will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience. In addition, applicants must be registered or be eligible for registration with the Allied Health Practitioners Council. 

Master of Science Degree in Medical Ultrasound

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Radiography, (Diagnostic or Therapeutic). 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

In addition, applicants must be registered with or are eligible for registration with the Allied Health Practitioner’s Council of Zimbabwe. Programme. Any other relevant qualification obtained from a recognised institution in Zimbabwe or elsewhere may be considered for admission.

Master of Science Degree in Operations Research and Statistics (Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Computing, Bachelor of Education Honours Degree in Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering Honours Degree in any field. 

Applicants with a lower Second (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience or a Postgraduate qualification in a related field.

Master of Science Degree in Sports Science (Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

 

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least Upper Second (2.1) in Sports Science or a related field. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience, or an internationally recognised coaching qualification or license which is equivalent to an Honours First Degree from a Sports Federation or Institution of a similar kind.

The Built Environment

Master of Science Degree in Construction Project Management (Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

 

 

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree, with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Rural & Urban Planning, Building Economics, Civil Engineering or Property Management.   

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.          

 

Master of Philosophy Degree in Property Studies

 

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least 2.1 in the following disciplines:

Property Development and Estate Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Economics or Urban Planning from this University or any other recognised University. 

The application should be accompanied by a research proposal with a focus on one of the following study areas: property development, property management, property valuation, or property marketing or sales. The research proposal not exceeding five (5) pages should include a concise title, introduction, statement of the problem, research objectives, justification of the study, and a proposed methodology.

Commerce

Master of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance

(Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree, B Com Honours Degree or equivalent with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Accounting or equivalent. 

Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of Financial Reporting and Financial Analysis. Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CIS will be an added advantage.

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

Master of Science Degree in Banking and Financial Economics

(Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree, B Com Honours Degree or equivalent with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Banking, Finance, Economics or their equivalents.

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience

Master of Science Degree in Financial Engineering

(Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree, B Com Honours Degree or equivalent with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in any field with a financial and mathematical content. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong Mathematical background.

 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience

Master of Science Degree in Finance and Investment

(Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree, B Com Honours Degree or equivalent with a degree class of at least Upper Second (2.1) in a Commercial Degree or equivalent.  In addition, applicants should have completed and passed Corporate Finance. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience

Master of Science Degree in Fiscal Studies

(Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree, B Com Honours Degree or equivalent with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Fiscal Studies, Public Finance, Customs, Taxation, Economics or equivalent.

A Bachelors’ Honours Degree in any discipline plus an acceptable Postgraduate Diploma in the above disciplines. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

Master of Science Degree in Risk Management and Insurance

(Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree, B Com Honours Degree or equivalent with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in Risk Management and Insurance or any Business related fields. In addition, the candidate must have thorough knowledge of insurance and/or risk management disciplines

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience

                                     or

Applicants must hold a General Degree or equivalent, preferably with an Upper Second Class (Upper Second (2.1)) or better, from a recognised university, coupled with a professional qualification in Insurance and/or Risk Management from a recognised institution. Associates or holders of advanced Diplomas from internationally recognised institutions such as The Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe (IIZ) and The Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) with at least three (3) years of working experience at supervisory or management level will also be considered. Applicants with these professional qualifications must show proof of having completed the final level of the qualification's examination(s) to be admitted into the Master of Science Degree in Risk management and Insurance programme.

 

Master of Science Degree in Strategic Marketing (Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

 

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree, B Com Honours Degree or equivalent with a degree class of at least an Upper Second (2.1) in any business-related field. 

The Master of Science programme is not intended as an introductory course in Marketing.  Therefore, to be considered for admission an applicant should have completed in their prerequisite Degree the following courses:

Principles of Marketing, Principles of Management, Principles of Economics and any of the following:

Business Finance, Statistics, Principles of Accounting, Quantitative Analysis for Business, and Marketing or Business Research. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

Institute of Development Studies

 

Master of Science Degree in Development Studies

(Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

Applicants must be holders of BSc Honours Degree in Development Studies or equivalent from a recognised university or holders of any other Bachelor’s Degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies or equivalent. 

Relevant work experience in the field of development or equivalent will be an added advantage.

Master of Science Degree in Disaster Management

(Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies or equivalent from a recognised university

                                    or

Holders of a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies or equivalent.

Relevant work experience in the field of Disaster Risk and Emergence Management or equivalent will be an added advantage.

Communication and Information Science

Master of Science Degree in Strategic Communications

 

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree, with a degree class of at least an Upper Second Class (2.1) in Social Sciences, Arts or Business related studies. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2 Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience

 A Degree class of a Pass (3) in Social Sciences, Arts or Business related studies plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Communication and Strategic Communication related studies.

Master of Science Degree in Journalism and Media Studies

 

 

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least an Upper Second Class (2.1) in Journalism and or Media Studies or related discipline such as Communication Studies, Public Relations and Advertising.

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least three years’ post-qualification practical experience in a recognized media house. 

Applicants with any first Degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism and or Media Studies or related fields may be admitted into the programme.

Master of Science Degree in Library and Information Science

 

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least an Upper Second Class (2.1) in Library and Information Science or in any other Information Science field (Archives, Records Management, Publishing, Archaeology, Cultural Heritage and Museology studies).   

At least a Lower Second Class (2.2) Degree in any other field plus a Postgraduate qualification or an equivalent in Library and Information Science. 

Applicants who have obtained a Degree Class of a Pass (3) in any Information Science field listed in the first criteria and at least five (5) years’ relevant experience in information related sciences may be considered for admission.

Master of Science Degree in Records and Archives Management

 

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least an Upper Second Class (2.1) in Records and Archives Management; Records Management; Archival Science; Information Studies; History or Heritage Studies from an accredited University or higher education institution.

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience. 

Applicants with any first Degree in a field other than those listed above will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification practical experience in a records and archives related establishment.

Engineering

Master of Engineering Degree in Manufacturing Systems and Operations Management (MSOM) (Bulawayo and Harare Cohort)

Applicants with a Lower Second Class 2.2 Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

Master of Engineering Degree in Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Management (MEOM)

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least an Upper Second Class (2.1) in Engineering, such as Industrial, Industrial and Manufacturing, Manufacturing, Production, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Chemical, Electrical, Electrical and Electronics and Fibre and Polymer Materials Engineering. 

Applicants with a Lower Second Class (2.2) Honours Degree in the above fields will be required to have at least two years’ post-qualification experience.

Master of Engineering Degree in Chemical and Environmental Process Engineering

 

Applicants must be holders of a BSc Honours Degree with a degree class of at least a Lower Second Class (2.2) in Chemical Engineering or related disciplines such as Environmental Engineering, Applied Biochemistry, Applied Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Process Engineering or Petrochemical Engineering from an accredited college or university.

Post qualification work experience is an added advantage.

Medicine

Master of Science Degree in Midwifery Education

 

Applicants must be holders of a relevant BSc Honours Degree in Nursing or related field. In addition, applicants should hold:

Midwifery post basic qualification (Diploma or higher).

A valid practicing certificate with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe.

Applicants should have at least one-year post-qualification experience.

 

NB: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed as part of the selection process.

Master of Medicine Degree in Family Medicine MMED FAM. MED)

 

 Applicants must be holders of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Have completed a General Medical Education (GME) post-internship. Have a current registration and practising certificate with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ). 

This qualification in Family Medicine is intended for doctors in possession of a first degree in medicine to acquire additional knowledge, skills and attitude to enable them to:

Provide competent, comprehensive and continuous patient-centred medical care, using the biopsychosocial model, in a continuum across all facilities in the district and provincial health system. This includes curative, preventive, promotive, palliative and rehabilitative care. 

NB: Short-listed applicants for admission to the MMED Degree in Family Medicine programme may be interviewed as part of the selection process.
