Department of Insurance and Actuarial Science – Faculty of Commerce
Applicants should be Professors in either Risk Management and/or Insurance. They must hold a PhD Degree and must have researched in the relevant field. In addition, successful applicants must have the following:
- The ability to contribute to postgraduate teaching;
- A commitment to postgraduate research supervision and the potential to develop a research profile within a short period, and;
- A record of research achievement and programme leadership.

Department of Insurance and Actuarial Science – Faculty of Commerce
Post A: Quantitative Analysis for Business (1 Post)
Applicants must satisfy any one of the following conditions:
- They must hold a PhD Degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science or equivalent; or
- Hold at least a PhD Degree in any business related field with a strong mathematical background.
Applicants who are holders of corresponding Master of Science Degrees must have at least 3 years’ University teaching experience.
Post B: Actuarial Science (2 Posts)
Applicants must satisfy any one of the following conditions:
- They must hold a PhD Degree in Actuarial Science and an Honours Degree in Actuarial Science; or
- Hold a PhD Degree in Risk Management and/ or Insurance, Financial Engineering, Mathematical Modelling, Finance and Investments or equivalent and; and an Honours Degree in Actuarial Science.
Applicants who are holders of corresponding Master of Science Degrees must have at least 3 years’ University teaching experience.
Post C: Risk Management (1 Post)
Applicants must satisfy any one of the following conditions:
- They must hold a PhD Degree in Risk Management and / or Insurance and an Honours Degree in Risk Management and /or Insurance; or
- Hold a PhD Degree in any business related field and an Honours Degree in Risk Management and / or Insurance.
Applicants who are holders of corresponding Master of Science Degrees must have at least 3 years’ University teaching experience.
LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (2 POSTS)
Department of Library and Information Science – Faculty of Communication and Information Science
Applicants should have at least a PhD Degree in Library and Information Science or a closely related discipline. The candidate should be able to teach and research in areas specific to Library and Information Science and Information and Communication Theory. The successful applicant will also be expected to guide and supervise undergraduate and post graduate students.
LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (3 POSTS)
Language and Competence Centre – Faculty of Communication and Information Science
Applicants should have a least a Master’s Degree in English Language and Literature, Communication, English as a Second Language or closely related disciplines. Possession of a PhD Degree would be an added advantage. The candidates should be able o teach and research in areas specific to English Language and competencies in the same; and communication. The successful applicants will also be expected o guide and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students.
LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)
Department of Publishing Studies – Faculty of Communication and Information Science
Applicants should have at least a PhD in Publishing, Creative Writing, Literature or Languages or any other relevant qualification. They should be able to teach and research in areas specific to Creative Writing and Copy-Writing. The successful applicant will also be expected to guide and supervise students’ research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and possess practical experience in writing (fiction, nonfiction, magazines and newspapers).
LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (7 POSTS)
Department of Architecture – Faculty of The Built Environment
Applicants must have at least a post-graduate Bachelor of Architecture from a recognised University or a Master’s Degree in Architecture. Registration with the Architects Council of Zimbabwe or other Architectural Professional Bodies in other countries will be an added advantage. Applicants should be competent to teach a wide range of courses covering the basic elements of Architecture such as Design Studio, Building Construction and Materials, History and Theory of Architecture, Structural Design, Environmental Services and Sustainable Design, Computer Aided Design, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Professional Practice and Management. Evidence of scholarly and professional contribution is required. A portfolio of major design works may be required.

Department of Quantity Surveying – Faculty of The Built Environment
Candidates must have at least a Master’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Construction Project Management. Candidates with postgraduate experience in Practice, Research or Higher Education and registered with a professional body have an added advantage. Candidates should be capable of teaching across a range of traditional and contemporary subjects such as Construction Economics, Construction Accounting, Measurement, Law, Professional Practice, Building Construction, Research Methods, Resources Management, Cost Management, Time Management, Sustainable Construction, Health and Safety Management and Advanced Construction Management.

Department of Anatomy and Physiology – Faculty of Medicine
Applicants should hold a minimum qualification of a relevant Master’s Degree in Physiology. A PhD, teaching and research experience will be an added advantage.

Department of Pathology (Medical Microbiology) – Faculty of Medicine
Applicants should have earned a PhD or equivalent Degree qualification in either Medical Parasitology or Medical Mycology. Applicants who are holders of an MSc or equivalent qualification in Medical Microbiology, Medical Parasitology or Medical Mycology should be registered for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral Degree qualification in either Medical Parasitology or Medical Mycology.
PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)
Department of Finance – Faculty of Commerce
Applicants must be holders of minimum qualifications of a PhD Degree in Finance or related field and must have considerable experience in teaching in an Institution of higher learning with extensive publications in refereed journals in any or more of the areas noted above. Applicants who have guided MPhil and PhD students will have an added advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to provide academic leadership and guide the department in promoting entrepreneurship and business development. He/she will be expected to research and teach appropriate courses offered by the Department at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and to guide MPhil and PhD students. A post-doctoral qualification will be an added advantage.

Department of Finance – Faculty of Commerce
Post A (1 Post)
Applicants must hold a minimum of a PhD Degree in Finance or a related field and must demonstrate the ability to teach, provide university service, supervise and undertake research at University level, in addition to promoting entrepreneurship and business development.
The successful applicant should be able to research and teach a wide variety of courses at undergraduate and post graduate levels. A strong orientation toward Financial Econometrics/Quantitative Finance/Financial Engineering/Computational Finance will be an added advantage. In addition, he/she will be expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and theses.

Applicants should be holders of a minimum of a PhD Degree in Financial Computing, Financial Engineering and related fields and must demonstrate the ability to teach, provide university service, supervise and undertake research at University level, in addition to promoting Entrepreneurship and Business Development.
Successful candidates should be able to research and teach at least two of the following courses: Financial Computing, Financial Modelling, Introduction to Information Technology and Programming, Financial Information Systems, or Computer Application in Revenue Management at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. In addition, he/she will be expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and theses.
Post C (1 Post)
Applicants should be holders of a minimum of a PhD Degree in Fiscal Studies, Customs and Taxes or related field and must demonstrate the ability to teach, provide university service, supervise and undertake research at University level, in addition to promoting entrepreneurship and business development.
The successful candidate should be able to research and teach at least two of the following courses: International Tax Planning, Tax Law and Practice, Taxation Accounting, Value Added Tax, Customs Law, Customs Management and Reforms, International Economic Integration, Economic and Fiscal Policy, Public Finance/Economics, or related courses at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. In addition, he/she will be expected to supervise Undergraduate and Postgraduate dissertations and theses.

Applicants are expected to hold a PhD in the above disciplines. However, candidates with MSc Degrees in these disciplines and relevant experience may be considered. Proof of active research in the form of published papers and conference proceedings will be a definite advantage.
The successful applicants will be expected to be conversant with the basic Physics taught to Undergraduates at First and Second year levels at NUST. Further, they shall therefore be expected to teach the basic Undergraduate courses as well as Elective Courses at the Fourth year level in their areas of specialisation. In addition, they will be expected to assist on at least one of the following MSc Programmes: Medical Physics, Geophysics or Medical Ultrasound. Successful candidates should be keen to do research with minimum resources in their areas of interest, solicit and attract funding in research.

Applicants must have at least a Masters Degree in Management/Administration and research interests in Management or Entrepreneurship. Candidates in possession of a doctoral qualification and with peer-reviewed publications will be at an advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at least three courses on the BCom (Honours) in Management Programme including Entrepreneurship.
Post B (1 Post)
Applicants must have at least a Master's degree in Business Administration / Management and research interests in Management and/or Business Communication. Candidates with PhD qualifications will have an added advantage.
The department is seeking individuals with a demonstrated commitment to collaborative teaching, active student-centred learning, and innovative curriculum design and development. Well qualified candidates should have a minimum of 1 year undergraduate teaching experience. The preferred areas of expertise include Writing, Public Speaking, Communications, and English as a Foreign Language. The ideal candidates should be effective communicators across contexts and audiences, work well with diverse groups of people, and possess excellent listening and teamwork skills. Coaching experience and familiarity with social media, online course platforms, and other aspects of online communication are essential. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at least three modules on the BCom (Honours) in Management programme including Business Communication.

Department of Accounting – Faculty of Commerce
Applicants must have the following:-
- A PhD in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, and Business related studies or Information Systems.
- A Masters in Accounting and Finance.
- A good Honours Degree in Accounting or Information Systems passed with at least 2.1 degree class or better.
- Industrial working experience.
- A professional qualification such as CA, CPA and ACCA degree will be an added advantage.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIP (2 POSTS)
Department of Nursing and Midwifery – Faculty of Medicine
Applicants must be eligible for Master of Science Degree in Paediatric Nursing programme and should hold a minimum of a First Degree in Nursing or related field of practice. Further, applicants must possess a Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Nursing plus at least two (2) years’ experience in the relevant field post the Paediatric Diploma. The candidates must be registered with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe and with a current Practising Certificate. Experience and interest in Teaching and Research will be an added advantage
